Apply to Become a 17th Annual Chicago Food Justice Summit Leader
In preparation for our 17th Annual Chicago Food Justice Summit, we are elated to announce we’re hiring our 2nd round of Summit Leaders! Last year was our first year expanding our leadership team and as we expected, we found that inviting more people to participate in the planning process led to a more inclusive, intentional, and unique summit. To learn more about last year’s summit leadership, check out this blog post.
For this year, we will be using the same working group structure as the previous summit. Each working group will be responsible for certain aspects of the summit, while also working collaboratively with other working groups. The graphic to the right depicts how the working groups operate together. Strategies for Accessibility will play a role in ensuring all the decisions other groups make are accessible, Programming and Logistics will work with Flavor and Reimagination to put together the summit schedule, and Communications and Engagement will work with all groups to effectively communicate what attendees can expect from the summit.
We are currently seeking food justice advocates who are interested in leading each working group. We will hire leaders for each group who will work collaboratively with each other, leaders from other groups, CFPAC staff, and CFPAC volunteers. Each position will last from October through February and require approximately 60 hours of work. Each person will be offered a $1,200 stipend. Find more information about each group and how to apply to be a summit leader below.
Flavor and (Re)Imagination - How do we integrate the arts into our virtual summit? Music? Cooking demos? Maybe even more?
We’re looking for two individuals to lead all artistic and musical components of our summit, and take a step further to (re)imagine what our summit could offer! This will include everything from working collaboratively with CFPAC staff, volunteers, and other summit leaders to brainstorm artistic components of the summit, researching artists in Chicago to invite, coordinating logistics, working with CFPAC staff to stay within budget, and being present to support in-person during the event. Communications and Engagement - How do we spread the word? How can we engage summit attendees after the summit?
We’re looking for two individuals to lead how the event is communicated to the public and brainstorm ways to make this summit our most engaging yet. This will include everything from working collaboratively to drafting outreach materials, creating communication tracking systems, coordinating volunteers to conduct outreach, and being present to support in-person during the event. Strategies for Accessibility - How can we make this event accessible to all who wish to attend? How can we structure programming in a way that offers attendees the same learnings and experience?
We’re looking for two individuals to lead all accessibility resources at our in person summit. This will include everything from working with CFPAC staff to identify which resources are needed, researching local Chicago providers of said resources, booking accessibility providers, and being present to support in-person during the event.
