We are elated to share our 2020 annual report with the public! While this year was unlike any year in recent history, we’re proud to share we were still able to accomplish a great deal.
See the letter from our Executive Director, Rodger Cooley:
”The year of 2020 unearthed and exacerbated some of the most pressing issues of our society. The civil uprisings responding to the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, and others, a contentious national election, the ongoing climate crisis, and the immense impacts of COVID-19 on our economy and community health have upended life all across the country and around the world. All of these national and global events greatly impacted the Chicago region and highlighted both the fragility of our current food system and the need for seeding resilience. To an even greater degree, the events of 2020 continued to reveal the massive racial disparities in our region, and how those inequities resound throughout our food system.
Even with the uncertainties of 2020, we are extremely proud of how our staff, partners, and supporters persevered and quickly found new ways to respond, collaborate, and address ongoing issues in the food system. This report shares highlights of what we accomplished with our collaborators and the shared vision for a more equitable and resilient food system.
Moving into 2021, we are excited to continue deepening relationships with Chicago communities, as well as foster partnerships with other justice-focused movements to work toward a better food system for all Chicagoans.
