Tyson produces 1 out of every 5 pounds of meat raised in the U.S. Tyson Foods is also the top polluter in the meat industry, releasing over 20 million pounds of toxic waste into local watersheds every year. The chemicals in these excess fertilizers have been linked to cancer, and are getting into our drinking water and river systems throughout Illinois.
We’re working to change this.
Mighty Earth is a global nonprofit dedicated to solving the world’s most pressing environmental problems. With the ‘Clean it up, Tyson’ we are asking Tyson to curb their environmental footprint by adopting sustainable practices in their supply chain.
Join us to learn about the problem, the solutions that exist, and how we can strategize together for a campaign win.
*Jody Osmund, Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm CSA; Liz Moran Stelk, Illinois Stewardship Alliance; Yoram Shanan, Sandbox Organics and Chilinois Young Farmers; Carol Hays, Prairie Rivers Network; Bob Benenson, FamilyFarmed.
Panelists will speak about the problem, available solutions, and what we can do for a campaign win. Q&A + a social with beers will follow!
Together we can radically transform our food system for a more sustainable future. See you there!
